I am:
A United Methodist pastor: I serve the people of Salt Lake City, Utah, at First United Methodist Church and Centenary United Methodist Church. I have been in SLC since July, 2020.
A lifelong Methodist: It’s the UMC that raised me, loved me, and called me into ministry; I am very attracted to the Wesleyan quadrilateral which balances reason and experience with church and scripture. I believe this balance provides foundational freedom to know God’s movement in our lives. I am thoughtful about my faith and willing to discuss and discern with you as we journey together. For me, the table is a beautiful image of what the Kin-dom of God is all about. And in this church, the table is open to every single person.
A believer in an inclusive church: I believe in a church where all can come to know God’s love no matter your race, sexuality, gender identity, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, ability, or any other factor. Making space for everyone is what we’re called to do as followers of Jesus. He included everyone, and we are called to do the same. This is important because the community I want to be part of is one of inclusion; one that says, “Come just as you are.”
Working for justice: I am an active member of United Today, Stronger Tomorrow – an advocacy group that works to advocate for affordable housing, childcare, clean air & water, and mental health issues in Utah.
Available to walk with you, wherever faith fits in your life: I am available to talk, pray with you, listen as you grow in your faith story, and guide you as you find a path that’s right for you. Whether this church or another, it doesn’t matter, I’m here to help you find the place where you can most authentically live out your faith. Feel free to contact me at any time.
Available for ceremonies: I preside over weddings of all kinds, memorials, celebrations of life, baptisms, home blessings, and more.
A passionate person: When I am not pastoring, I love spending time outside hiking and snowshoeing. Nature is a salve and fills my soul. I am also passionate about food, coffee, and drinking tea of any kind! I have played the cello since childhood and am currently part of a folk music jam band which I balance with the sacred music I play at church.
Education and Background: After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Colorado State University, I attended Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California, where I received my Master of Divinity degree. My first pastoral appointment was to Gillette, WY, where I served for 5 years. I was appointed to serve in Salt Lake City in 2020.
